Come on, I can't be the only one in this neckbeard fest playing the damn thing.Achamian#1897 for those who care.
I don't have it, yet. I've never been much of a PC gamer, but the more I see of Diablo 3, the more I want it.
I was all set for this, given the promises they made about AI, but apparently the monsters do the same shit they've always done in these games.
Loved the first 2, but didn't like the direction it and the gaming industry have gone.I may have lost my love for hack-n-slash too.

It's either really bad and predictable, or it's insanely hard because it cheats. Most of the best 'AI' happens in FPS encounters that are tightly scripted (see: any Half-Life 1 and 2, many sequences in the Halo games).
Yeah, AI is a goal in the distance. It's funny though, how many times you see people mentioning it at the beginning of a game's development and then sort of ignore it later. The tripod things in Half-Life 2 supposedly had a "pack mentality" but I never felt like it was anything overly deep.AI in turn based games seems a little more legitimate, though apparently Elemental's AI (like the rest of the game) was a major bomb.
I want to play Neckbeardfest. Sounds sweet.

Aww, I missed the prime bellcurve moment to whinge about it! Never mind my comp prolly couldn't run it, I really dislike the 'online only' stuff. Yet more ways of making you buy without you really owning anything.Frankly when the first and second came out, it felt good to actually stretch those roleplay wings - ie, the ones that remain furled in table top pen and paper campaigns that don't last more than a few levels. It was actually nice to go somewhere. Also I'm really jaded on murder for thrills games (I do like grevous bodily harm unto unconciousness games though!)
Quote from: Jorgei uninstalled Diablo 3 todayit's pretty pointlessFriend of mine was giving me the lowdown on the game, sounds like they shit the bed on the storyline. What's your take? Or were you more in it for the gameplay, in which case: did it live up to the dark, weapons-blunted, knee-deep-in-blood dungeon crawl that D2 was?
The story was honestly awful. Very disappointing. Every "twist" could be seen from a mile away, and the plot was incredibly formulaic and typical. The dialogue was a joke. I will say, however, that the dialogue (and even stories) for the "followers" was noticeably superior. Some of their interactions are actually pretty funny (especially the Scoundrel and female Demon Hunter).
